RE: Roo Slide Leak

Eternabond tape fixed the leak we had when our slide was extended. Quick, easy, and no charge at all to us by the dealer. Never had a leak in over a year since they did this little fix.

RE: Another season ends...

We don't get to camp much after the end of October, however, I spend an hour or so, at least, a couple of times a week in the evening sitting out in the camper in the back yard just getting away from my normal daily routine of taking care of my Mom. DH will stay inside with her after dinner for awhile and give me a break. (can't tell you how wonderful I think he is...) Every now and then, if we have a decent weekend, we might even sleep out there too. I can't believe the summer and most of fall is over already.........where did the time go????

RE: ophra and her gadget

I love, love, love my Kindle....I saw the Oprah show where she said she was going to announce her newest favorite thing of all time and said to my Mother, I'll bet it's a Kindle. I had seen them, but wasn't really interested as i love "Books"....the whole feel, smell, experience of books.... DH bought me one for my birthday with the stipulation that I had 30 days to try it out and if I didn't love it, I had to return it....well, I have fallen in love with this thing. I can carry it around with me where ever I go and always have something to read. It's saved me money in the long run, because if you see a book you think you might like, you can download a "sample" from Amazon, which is usually one or two chapters of the book...and read that for free before you ever have to buy the book. There are also many books which are way cheaper than the 9.99...plus, there are all sorts of sites where you can download free books. I wouldn't take anything for my Kindle now.....and after me taking along just my Kindle on our last camping trip, instead of a huge stack of books...I'm sure DH appreciates it too! :> No more complaining about waiting at the doctors office, or standing in line somewhere....you can read your book, or try out a sample or two while you wait. It's probably one of my favorite gifts ever!!!!! If you love to read like I do...and hate to be without a book, you will love this thing! It's simple to use, takes just a few seconds to download a book and you don't even have to hook up to a computer. You can do it all through the Kindle if you want.... No more worrying about what to do with all those books in the camper! :>

RE: Cleaning Slide Roofs

Topper is the way to go ....if you can afford it.... Ours didn't come with one and we haven't found the need yet to add one...so.... we use a long broom handle with towels tied on the top and then drag it across the top of the slide several times until nothing falls off. So far it's worked great to get the pine needles, water, leaves, or whatever off.... cheap and has worked fine!

RE: small version of a golden??

Our dog looks like a small white Golden. He weighs about 52 lbs; not small, but not as big as most Golden's either. He's half Golden and half cocker. He's gorgeous and has the best temperment of any dog i've ever had in my life. I vote try a Golden mix also.

RE: Just me and the wife

oh....that's one of the things we miss the most....I can't tell you what I'd give to have trips with just DH and I.... Since Mom had her stroke and has to have constant care, we moved her in with us and now she's with me always. DH and I went from almost all our time together in the past several years with the kids grown and gone (and loved every minute of it) to almost no time alone at all. Enjoy every minute you have together.....remember...the two of you together is what started all that "family stuff". LOL ;> Enjoy.........enjoy........enjoy..........

RE: What to do at night Camping??

If you're that into TV there are always movies on DVD.....but we just always enjoyed sitting outside by the campfire together talking...or if it's too hot for a campfire, we just sit and play maybe some other game or something....just being together is the best thing about camping for us. Now that we have to take Mom with us she usually wants to be taken in and watch tv or movies at night, but DH and I still just want to be together outside talking or relaxing.

RE: I got the best hubby

best husband???? hmmmm....my DH told me I could quit work and move my mother (his MIL!!!!) into our home after her stroke when she needed full time care! It's been two years and he's still as supportive as ever! This was after we had finally gotten to a point in our lives when we had no kids at home and were on our own! He's a hell of a guy! I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. Those of us who have "best spouses in the world" are sure lucky!!!!

RE: Fold up camper to Alaska trip

I personally have never been lucky enough to even go to Alaska, however, a couple of years ago we camped next to an older couple who had been camp hosts in several places in Alaska for several years....in a PU! They were now in a camping Van! They said they loved their time in Alaska. Sounds wonderful!
